Following their first 2026 plenary session in Yaounde, on August 20th, leadership at the Chamber of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, and Forests awaits a government ruling on a proposed extension of their mandate ahead of its October expiration.

A s the Chamber of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, and Forests (CAPEF) prepares for an executive transition this October, over 100 delegates assembled in Yaounde on August 20th 2026, to map out the institution’s gover nance roadmap and consolidate recent operational gains. With the current executive bureau’s five year term nearing its end this October, the assembly addressed the upcoming leadership time line. Delegates formally voted to request a mandate extension from the government to ensure administrative continuity. CAPEF President Martin Paul Mindjos Momeny stated “we have resol ved to write to the government to request a prorogation of our mandate so we can carry out our developmental initiatives completion, while leaving the final determination entirely to the wisdom and discretion of the state.” The governance request comes on the heels of the 2026 statu tory session, originally slated for June, where members formally closed the 2025 financial year.
