Cameroon is poised to increase cement production from the current 4.2 million tonnes to 7.2 million tonnes in 2018. The four cement plants in the country are all taking measures to increase production by 3 million tonnes. Dangote Cement with its current production of 1.5 million tonnes has announced the construction of a 1.5 million tonnes capacity factory in Yaounde. Cimencam which produces 1.6 million tonnes has already launched construction works for the 500,000 tonnes capacity factory in Nomayos, near Yaounde. The current demand for cement stands at 3 million tonnes but it is projected to rise to 8 million tonnes in 2020. The price per bag of cement sells between FCFA 4,500 to FCFA 5,000.
