Limbe City Council Budget : 2019 AFCON Preparations Take Centre Stage

The city of Limbe has continued its ground works to have a hitch-free 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) come next year. To this effect, FCFA 125 million has been set aside to ensure the security of Limbe population and extend streets lights to more neighbourhood before and during the event. FCFA 75 million has equally been earmarked as grants to sports associations in order to encourage sporting activities in the Limbe municipality for this year. The money for these events shall flow from the Limbe City Council (LCC) budget which stands at FCFA 9.750 billion  and was adopted on December 27, 2017 during an ordinary session of the council which held in Limbe.

Motanga Andrew Monjimba, the Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council while presenting the budget to the Senior Councillors for deliberation and adoption, said that the 2016 Women AFCON which held in Limbe was a litmus test which they successfully outshined.  “AFCON 2019 shall come with its own challenges. But as we learn and did in 2016, so shall we do in 2019. Nothing can be above us,” he confidently indicated.
