Entrepreneurship Promotion : National Days of SMEs Open in Yaounde

The fourth edition of the event opened at the Conference Center yesterday focuses on innovation.

Some 50 entrepreneurs from across the national territory are currently taking part in a three-day doing business promotion event which opened at the Yaounde Conference Centre yesterday December 19. The event is the fourth edition of the National Days of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises which was opened by Minister Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa on behalf of Prime Minister and Head of Government, Philemon Yang. The entrepreneurs are engaged in exhibitions, B2B and B2G exchanges with promoters of SMEs, large companies, financial institutions, research institutions and project holders.

In an opening speech read after speeches from representatives of the private sector, the Prime Minister’s representative, Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa who is the Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, commended the youth who already have demonstrated a strong commitment to entrepreneurship. He noted it is a guarantee of self-employment, professional safety and social enhancement. He said that the theme of the fourth edition of the National Days of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises “Promote Entrepreneurship and innovative SMEs for a Strong and Inclusive Growth” is intended to show government’s willpower to accelerate reforms needed to sustainably stimulate business creation, while valuing talents and job creation.

He also said that Cameroonians with outstanding innovations would be awarded at the event which ends on December 21. Citing a few of the many measures already taken by government to promote SMEs in Cameroon, the Minister acknowledged the fact that so much is still left to be done for the sector which harbours 94% of companies in the country.
