Carrefour Market : 1,500 Cameroonian Products Integrated

The 7 billion worth commercial centre was inaugurated by the Minister of Trade in Douala yesterday.

A new page in the economic history of Cameroon opened in Douala yesterday as an ultramodern commercial centre by the CFAO Group christened Carrefour Market was inaugurated by the Minister of Trade Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana. The ceremony that saw the presence of the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona, that of Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training- Zacharie Perevet, that of Housing and Urban Development –Jean Claude Mbwentchou and the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Fuh Calistus Gentry, revealed that Carrefour Market is not only the first in Central Africa but the biggest of CFAO’s branches in Africa after that of Côte D’Ivoire. 

According to the Chief Executive Officer of CFAO Retail, Xanvier Desjobert, disclosed that they have signed some 180 distribution contracts with Cameroonian producers and of the 10,000 reference products in the commercial centre, 1,500 of the products are made in Cameroon. He further disclosed their extension plans of constructing a similar commercial centre in Yaounde that will comprise some 50 shops to meet their ambition which is to be the leader in distribution in Central and West Africa. The CEO said they will sell fresh products from Cameroon in Cameroon which will make them outstanding from other supermarkets. He qualified Cameroonian products as wonderful and reiterated that the agriculture in Cameroon is of high quality.
