The Ministry of Public Works is pursuing its ambitious investment programme with the construction of major roads, motorways and civil engineering works. It is also continuing the execution of the road component of the Triennial Emergency Plan as well as the programme to open up production basins to consumptions areas. With these, the ministry was accorded the lump sum of FCFA 461, 904 billion for the 2017 financial year. How far has the execution of these road infrastructure projects gone for the current financial year and what are the stumbling blocks will constitute the main thrust of a concertation meeting scheduled for Thursday October 12, 2017 in Yaounde to be chaired by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi. The meeting that brings together road construction enterprises, technical consulting firms, public contract and follow-up engineers has three main objectives. Firstly, Public Works officials, contracting firms and State engineers will evaluate progress made so far in 2017 and identify obstacles holding back the smooth execution of projects in view of an effective resumption of works in November after the rainy season.
