O rganised by licensed brokerage firm Almasi Capital and Advisory under the theme, “Development, Innovation and Inclusion: the Levers of the CEMAC Financial Market,” the three-day convention brought together public authorities, regulators, investors, banks, business leaders, development partners, and financial experts from Cameroon and across the CEMAC sub-region. Representing the Prime Minister, Head of Government, at the opening ceremony, Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze said the initiative contributes to dis cussions on a critical question for the region: how to better mobilise available capital and channel it towards productive investment. He said Central Africa’s ambi tion should be to build a deep, liquid, transparent, secure, and accessible financial market ca pable of mobilising regional and international savings to finance productive activities. According to the Minister, the development of the financial market should not be an end in itself, but must serve the real economy by supporting growing businesses, infrastructure projects, industrial moderni sation, job creation, and value generation. During the maiden edition place under the high patronage of the Prime Minis ter, Head of Government, the finance minister stressed the need to bring financial markets closer to businesses, noting that companies must better understand the opportunities available through capital mar kets. At the same time, he un derscored the importance of trust, supported by effective regulation, reliable financial information, and investor protection. COSUMAF President, Jacqueline Adiaba Nkembe, described the convention as an important step in advancing Central Africa’s financial market.
