T he University of Douala is strengthening its commit ment to innovation and youth empowerment with the inauguration of SawagriLab, a solidarity FabLab established on its Ndogbong campus through an institutional partnership with the Orange Cameroon Foundation. Hosted by the university on behalf of the Douala University Institute of Technology (IUT), the FabLab represents an investment of more than FCFA 26 million. The funding has enabled the acquisition of nine pieces of technological equipment, including a portable laser engraver, food and resin 3D printers, sublimation printers, ESP32-ESP8266 IoT and ro botics kits, a badge-making machine, an automatic sealing machine, and a digital thermoforming machine. SawagriLab is structured around three main areas, including agri- food, textile and design, and digital/ robotics. Its ambition is to provide a practical environment where stu dents can develop technical skills, experiment with new ideas, and turn concepts into prototypes and viable entrepreneurial projects. The facility will primarily benefit students enrolled in Food Biotechnology, Industrial and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Computing, Industrial Engineering and Mainte nance, and Computer Engineering.
