S outh West Manyu Cocoa Farmers’ Cooperative pre sident and General Manager has vehemently refuted allegations of bri bery of customs officials circulated on social media platforms. Chief Tabe Bi song Oben Richard says the accusation of bribing the Director General of Customs with FCFA 70 million and FCFA 38 million for Sou th West Chief of Custom Sector are unfounded and lack verifiable evidence. While calling for a probe into the allegation, Chief Tabe Bisong stated that the South West Manyu Cocoa Farmers Cooperative is a citizen organisation made up of farmers, cocoa buyers and exporters and it paid taxes and duties to the State treasury amounting to close to FCFA 1 billion in 2025. In a disclaimer issued on September 19, 2026, it states that “For the avoidance of doubt, the South West Manyu Co coa Farmers’ Cooperative categorically states that neither the Cooperative nor its officials have, at any point, witnessed au thorized documented or been involved in any transaction allegedly car ried out by the President with the Director General of Customs, for whatever reason or purpose.”The document further concludes that the “South West Manyu Cocoa Farmers’ Coopera tive remains committed to transparency, accoun tability, the protection of cocoa farmers’ interest and the ...
