A cross Africa, institutions, businesses, and agricul tural cooperatives face growing digital threats from phishing scams and fake news to network intrusions. Yet, existing security solutions remain prohi bitively expensive and reliant on continuous internet connectivity. In a bid to address this gap, the Bamenda-based PACE7 team has engineered a multi-threat security platform built specifically for the operational realities of African com munities. The drive behind PACE7 stems from real-world vulnerabilities observed directly in Cameroon. As IT Project Manager Ynna Merveille Matchiffo notes, schools falling victim to online scams, farmers losing harvests to undetected crop diseases, and government agencies facing targeted cyber-at tacks highlighted an urgent need for locally designed, accessible tools. Rather than relying on foreign software re quiring thousands of dollars in subscriptions and reliable electricity, PACE7 was created by Africans, for African challenges. Built on accessible, low-cost hardware like the Raspberry Pi, PACE7 operates entirely offline. The platform runs real-time threat detection across network anomalies, deep fakes, phishing SMS, fake online content, and early-stage crop diseases detected through photographs. By processing all data locally on the device itself, PACE7 ensures strict data privacy, operates without internet dependence, and eliminates data export risks.
