CAMWATER: New Equipment To Upgrade Water Supply

A major structural enhancement of Yaounde’s drinking water network is underway, driven by the arrival of specialized equipment on August 23rd 2026, intended to optimize millions of cubic meters in production capacity.

T he national water uti­ lity, (Camwater), took delivery on Sunday, Au­ gust 23rd 2026, of an important stock of brand-new equipment at its Yaounde Re­ gional Division. The arrival of this machinery marks a crucial step forward for Component 1 of the Project for the Emergency Improvement of the Drinking Water Supply for the City of Yaounde and its Surroundings (PUMIP). An FCFA 87 billion presidential initiative financed alongside public partners to overhaul the capital’s water production and pumping in­ frastructure. The newly acquired stock includes heavy hydraulic, electromechanical, electronic, and pneumatic systems. These supplies are currently being dispatched to major plants across the city, including fa­ cilities at Akomnyada, Mefou, Nkoayos, Golf, Emana Buea, and Fouda. By replacing aging assets, Camwater aims to safe­ guard operational tools and secure water output for urban households. Installation operations which officially kicked off on Mon­ day, August 24th 2026, are scheduled to run for ten days.
