Development Vs Environmental Protection: Striking A Sustainable Balance…

Sustainable development that allows the present generation to meet our current needs, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. In other words, sustainable development is an inseparable system of economic, social, resource and protection of environmental which not only can attain the objective of economic development, but also it can protect the natural resources of atmospheric, freshwater, marine and environment. It can make the future generations live and work in peace and environmental protection. Sustainable development has the connection with environmental protection, but it cannot be equated with environmental protection. Environmentally Sustainable Development is a multi-dimensional concept, which emphasizes integration and striking a dynamic balance between economic, social and environmental aspects in a region, to ensure intergenerational equity. From September 25 to 27, 2015 at the World Summit on Environmentally Sustainable Development, 193 member States of the United Nations officially adopted the document “Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. According to the conclusion of the Global Environmental Outlook, the achievement of environmental sustainability is not satisfactory. Despite some progress in environmental protection, the problems of steady deterioration of the ecological environment, unsustainable use of the natural resources, and climate change are still serious. Thus, Africa Climate Week, which ran from 29 August to 2 September, 2022 in Libreville, Gabon, examined the ambitions, innovations and partnerships that are driving climate action in Africa. It also explored the possibilities of transformative change, and showcase solutions and lessons learned - on a continent that is considered one of the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
