Residents in Yaounde last week experienced a reduction in the prices of white pepper. Going by vendors, the decrease in price stems from good harvest as recounted by producers as a result of favorable weather conditions which led to an increase in production, thereby pushing down prices. Quantities of this commodity have also increased, packages range from FCFA 100 to FCFA 1000. Consumers disclose that, this is the right time to buy in bulk and stock at home as it is uncertain when prices would increase. A kilogram costs FCFA 18,000 from FCFA 20,000. White pepper is produced in Penja and Njombe in the Littoral Region.
